NEW - Splintered Trust

Gemma and Weston's story continues in Book Two of the Gemma and the Taylorton Boys Series! What happens when the one you irrevocably trust betrays you in the worst possible way? That trust is shattered. Annihilated. Nada. Gone. I had surrendered and gave in. I opened myself to endless possibilities only to be suffocated by my own worst fears. I let him love me, and in turn, I let him destroy me. This is my story after the bliss faded away. They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Well, I didn’t need to be stronger... I needed him.

“Do you feel that? That’s what you do to me.” Her eyes widen a little farther. I place her hand back in mine and rub my thumb over her wrist where I feel her heart in tune with my own. “You stole my breath as soon as you and Garret walked through the door. Now, I can only breathe whenever you are near. This between us, I know you feel it too. Is it scary? Hell yes. Is it going to be easy sailing? Probably not. Is it going to be worth it? Fuck…. baby, I’ve never been more certain of anything in my life.” - Weston Marks, Splintered Courage

Gemma:

Who cares if I fell in love too soon?

Who cares if I make rash decisions?

Who cares if the world sees me as blissfully naïve?

I don’t care, so why should anyone else?

It’s my love to give, my decision to make, my chances to take. In the end, it’s my life to live and possibly my life to give.

Gemma:

I stumble to the attached bathroom, regretting drinking so much soda. I nearly scream when I come back out and Leo is in the chair next to the desk. Has he been there the whole time? Watching me? I clutch my chest in an attempt to calm my nerves. He sits there watching me. I don’t know what to do. He doesn’t take his hungry eyes off me. My skin burns every place his gaze touches. Leo slowly rises from his seat and approaches like a lion stalks its prey.

“My son thinks you are going to be his. He is sadly mistaken. You are going to be mine, and mine alone. He wants to make you his Queen. The thing is, in order to do that he would have to be the King. And…that’s me. The King. If anyone is going to make you a Queen, it’s going to be me,” he says as his breath passes across my lips. He quietly walks out of the room. The door closes behind him with a soft click. I slump down on the bed bringing my fingers to my lips. He didn’t touch me, but he might as well have. I squeeze my eyes shut and wish it all to go away.
